1. 5 Must Have Security Guard Equipment!

===========================================================

If you are currently working as a security guard and and are not protecting yourself from criminals and people that are willing to hurt you then you need to think seriously about upgrading your equipment.

2. Are you currently licensed?

===========================================================

I can't say how many of our security guards have been caught out being unlicensed at some stage. Whether it be changes in government or their renewal was incorrectly completed and they have not been advised, there is always the chance that your license is not current.

If you are not sure contact your local licensing authorities. If you are not sure who you need to contact click here. Your employer may also help you find out more.

3. Is your training up to date and do you need an upgrade?

===========================================================

Training is another way to protect yourself while working as a security guard job. You need to be certain that you maintain professional development and keep yourself up to date with the latest training for the area of security that you are employed in.

If you don't either of the following can happen:

  • You could be demoted or lose your job -- if there is someone that has better training and has continued to improved themselves your employer is more likely to choose them over someone who has not developed their skills and training.

  • The criminals will get it over you -- in general criminals are petty but as a security guard it is up to you to stay ahead of them. They will research, and watch everything that goes on and they will know if you are not up to speed with your job.
